 |
Composite propellants are mainly composed of a solid oxidizer (typically ammoniumperchlorate) and an organic binder, (typically polybutadene HTPB), metal powder (typically aluminium) and additives included to control ballistic and mechanical properties

 Performance - Ispec: 2200 - 2600 m/s - Tc: 2600 - 3600 K - Density: 1.65 - 1.85 x 103 kg/m3 - operational temperature -54°C - +71°C - very good ageing characteristics - very good mechanical properties (appropriate for case bonded design) - usually corrosive combustion gases - reduced smoke to smoky depending on metal loading |
