> Aluminium alloys (for small motors)
> Steel (high strength maraging or steel strip laminate)
- processes:
> wrap thin sheet material on a mandrel and weld (e.g. helical strip welding technique)
> apply adhesive on very thin sheet material and wrap helically on a mandrel, cure by heat treatment for bonding (steel strip lamination technique)
> flow form seamless case from a forging
> flow form or machine end closures; assemble with case by mechanical means (e.g. bolts), welding or bonding
